What's in a Will?
Everybody needs a will! A will is your last will and testament. That’s lawyer talk for, “here is what to do if I pass away.” It says who is in charge of making sure all of your wishes are carried out, it says who gets everything, and most importantly (if you have minor children) it names a guardian for those kids.
If you have a trust, you still have a will. It is a will that says, “‘pour’ everything you have into your trust and do what the trust says.” That is why if you have a trust your will is called a “pour over will.”
If you’re getting this newsletter you probably have a will, but does everybody around you have one? What about your kids? They also need those emergency healthcare and power of attorney documents too. (By the way, basic estate plan makes a great gift)
